School Highlight All Pro Dad Breakfast
Our first All Pro Dad Event of the year at Blythe-Bower was a huge success. We had over 100 dads and students in attendance. This month’s topic was “Laughing Together.” The dads and students watched a humorous video, discussed things that make them laugh, and told each other why humor and laughing together is important. The beginning of each All Pro Dad Breakfast begins with the dads telling their child why they are proud of them. Fathers choose things that have happened over the past month for which they are proud of their children. They share these things with their table group. Our students love to hear their dads brag on them. After the humorous video, dads were issued a monthly challenge. This month’s challenge is to gather the family together and watch a family-friendly comedy movie. Dads and Students enjoyed biscuits from Hardees and once the breakfast was over dads walked their children to their classrooms. Our All Pro Dad Chapter meets the first Friday of every month at 7:40 am in the Blythe-Bower Theater.
Teacher Highlight Mrs. Brittany Hicks
My name is Brittany Hicks and I teach 3rd grade Math and Science. This is my 14th year teaching. I have taught my whole career at Blythe-Bower. It is a wonderful place to be. I love my job. It is wonderful to have a job where you make a difference every day. I believe that every child can learn. Each child comes to me at a different place and needing different things. My job is to meet them where they are and move them. It is so exciting to watch a child who is struggling, finally get it. Their faces light up and they are so excited. That is what makes my job the best in the world.
